Specimen Exchange
NOTE: ALWAYS USE GLOVES WHEN HANDLING SPECIMENS AND HOLDERS!
| 1. Always check the specimen height using the height gauge. | VIEW | |||||
| 2. Turn on the chamber camera and monitor. | VIEW | |||||
| 3. Ensure that the vacuum readings are within range. Make sure the "SEC" switch position is selected on the front panel, and hit the AIR button to vent the exchange chamber. | VIEW | |||||
| 4. Pull the door open by grabbing the door itself, not the rod. | VIEW | |||||
| 5. Screw the specimen holder onto the end of the rod. | VIEW | |||||
| 6. Pull the rod back into the locked position and close the door. | ||||||
| 7. Press the EVAC button to evacuate the exchange chamber. | VIEW | |||||
| 8. Wait until the SEC vacuum reads "high" on the front panel. | VIEW | |||||
| 9. Turn the handle counterclockwise to open MV1. | VIEW | |||||
| 10. While observing the chamber camera, push the rod onto the dovetail on the stage and unscrew the rod. | ||||||
| 11. Pull the rod out until it locks and close MV1. You do not need to AIR the chamber! | ||||||
