Preliminary

1. Swipe in to the computer logbook to activate the microscope.    
2. Fill cold trap dewar on SEM with 5-6 funnels of liquid nitrogen. VIEW
3. Check that the EDS detector is in the "out" position at 6. VIEW
4. The computer will already be logged on. Do not change the log-in; you cannot log in to your home directory.    
5. Click on the S-4700 icon to start the software. You do not need a password; just click "OK".    
6. The software will display a window with stage coordinates. The proper coordinates are: X=12.5 mm, Y=12.5 mm, and Z=12 mm. Check that the software stage coordinates agree with actual stage position. If not, adjust the stage by hand and make any required changes to the display window. Click "OK". VIEW
